Elden Ring: Bell Bearing Hunter (Church of Vows) Boss Fight

Bell Bearing Hunter is in the lowest tier of bosses in Elden Ring, Field Bosses, and is found in the Church of Vows in Eastern Liurnia of the Lakes. Like most lesser bosses in the game, this one is optional in the sense that you do not need to kill it in order to advance the main story.

As you probably know, bosses in Elden Ring are divided into three tiers. From lowest to highest: Field Bosses, Greater Enemy Bosses and finally Demigods and Legends.

Bell Bearing Hunter is in the lowest tier, Field Bosses, and is found in the Church of Vows in Eastern Liurnia of the Lakes. Like most lesser bosses in the game, this one is optional in the sense that you do not need to kill it in order to advance the main story.

Getting this boss to spawn is a little bit tricky, but not difficult if you know how. First of all, it will only spawn at night, but seemingly not every night. The most reliable way I found to get it to spawn is to rest at the Site of Grace just outside the church and then pass time until Nightfall two times in a row. If I only did it one time, the boss would usually not spawn.

As you enter the church, it’s easy enough to see if the boss will spawn or not. If the huge turtle is there, the boss will not spawn, but if it’s not, the boss will spawn as you approach the altar.

Fighting this boss is exactly the same as fighting the Bell Bearing Hunter in the Warmaster’s Shack in Limgrave. You’re able to get a few cheap shots in during its spawn animation where it is seemingly walking out of thin air, but be ready to feel the pain when he’s done with that, as he hits immensely hard.

I think this boss is probably the one I’ve wiped on most in the game so far, so I ended up going doing some other stuff for a while, and when I came back for another try and to record this video, I was admittedly a bit over leveled.

I found it best to try to stay close to this boss as his melee attacks are generally easier to avoid than his ranged attacks. But everything he does hurts a lot, so even when close to him, you need to be extremely careful not to take too many hits. Especially the attack where he grabs you, lifts you up into the air and then tries to cleave you with his sword can be devastating.
