Elden Ring: Cemetery Shade (Caelid Catacombs) Boss Fight

Cemetery Shade is in the lowest tier of bosses in Elden Ring, Field Bosses, and is the end boss of the Caelid Catacombs dungeon in Caelid. Like most lesser bosses in the game, this one is optional in the sense that you do not need to kill it in order to advance the main story.

As you probably know, bosses in Elden Ring are divided into three tiers. From lowest to highest: Field Bosses, Greater Enemy Bosses and finally Demigods and Legends.

Cemetery Shade is in the lowest tier, Field Bosses, and is the end boss of the Caelid Catacombs dungeon in Caelid. Like most lesser bosses in the game, this one is optional in the sense that you do not need to kill it in order to advance the main story.

This boss appears to be a pitch-black shadowy humanoid. It has several nasty tricks, but the worst one is the rapid multiple slashes it will do when too close, as that is hugely damaging and kills at least one careless Tarnished every year, maybe more, so be careful with that.

I have faced this type of boss before and therefore I know that it is critically weak to Holy damage, so my Sacred Blade Ash of War really shines here. So much in fact that I decided to slow down a bit and see what the boss would actually do before I finished it off, just to make it a slightly more interesting video.

The part where it grabbed me and then apparently tried to suck out my brain was new to me. I guess I’ve killed the previous Cemetery Shades too quickly or maybe the other ones sucked out the part of my brain that remembered they did it. But no matter, it won’t find much good to suck out as my brain has obviously been completely corrupted by heavy metal music and violent video games at this point ;-)
