Elden Ring: Full-Grown Fallingstar Beast (Mt Gelmir) Boss Fight

Full-Grown Fallingstar Beast is in the lowest tier of bosses in Elden Ring, Field Bosses, and is found on top of one of the peaks of Mount Gelmir. Like most lesser bosses in the game, this one is optional in the sense that you do not need to defeat it in order to advance the main story.
As you probably know, bosses in Elden Ring are divided into three tiers. From lowest to highest: Field Bosses, Greater Enemy Bosses and finally Demigods and Legends.
Full-Grown Fallingstar Beast is in the lowest tier, Field Bosses, and is found on top of one of the peaks of Mount Gelmir. Like most lesser bosses in the game, this one is optional in the sense that you do not need to defeat it in order to advance the main story.
The way up to this boss can be found right next to the Ninth Mount Gelmir Campsite Site of Grace, either by going up a very long ladder, or by using Torrent to jump up a spiritspring. If you want to fight the boss on foot and with the aid of a summoned spirit like I did, I suggest taking the time to go up the ladder as you can summon and get ready without aggroing the boss as long as you don’t start running toward it when you get up there.
If you’re feeling more adventurous, want to fight the boss on horseback, or perhaps just use Torrent’s magnificent speed to sprint past the boss and avoid it altogether, going up the spiritspring is certainly much faster and gives you an impressive view of the area and Volcano Manor in the background. And that’s obviously why we have fought our way to the top of this mountain, to enjoy the beautiful scenery, architecture and natural wonders ;-)
I have fought some of the regular Fallingstar Beasts before and usually find them somewhat annoying, because they have so many different tricks and like to charge around a lot. This full-grown specimen appears to be a tougher and even more annoying version. Funny how no matter how bad it gets, this game always has something worse in store for you ;-)
Due to the chaotic nature of the fight and the way the beast likes to charge around, I didn’t have much luck getting Kristoff to tank it, so I decided to summon Tiche to lay some pain on it instead and that worked quite well. The beast charges around so much that I actually had some trouble getting into melee myself, so in hindsight I should probably have mounted up or gone ranged after getting Tiche on the case.
As you can see in the video, the beast has several different and highly annoying attacks, but the one I found the most deadly was actually its charge attack. It will usually charge three times and if it chooses you for its target every time (which it will if you’re the only one there), you will most likely die if it hits you the first time, as it charges again so fast that your character will still be on the ground for the second and third charges. That is just cheap and hugely annoying and I consider all available means fair against bosses with that type of mechanic.
And now for the usual boring details about my character. I play as a mostly Dexterity build. My melee weapon is the Guardian’s Swordspear with Keen affinity and Chilling Mist Ash of War. My shield is the Great Turtle Shell, which I mostly wear for the stamina recovery. I was level 114 when this video was recorded. I think that’s a bit high for this boss, but it was annoying enough anyway, so I have no regrets. I’m always looking for the sweet spot where it’s not mind-numbing easy mode, but also not so difficult that I will be stuck on the same boss for hours ;-)
