The Misbegotten Warrior and Crucible Knight duo is in the middle tier of bosses in Elden Ring, Greater Enemy Bosses, and is found on the plaza in Redmane Castle, but only when the Festival is not active. If it is active, you will need to defeat Starscourge Radahn before this boss duo becomes available again. Like most lesser bosses in the game, this one is optional in the sense that you do not need to kill it in order to advance the main story.

As you probably know, bosses in Elden Ring are divided into three tiers. From lowest to highest: Field Bosses, Greater Enemy Bosses and finally Demigods and Legends.

The Misbegotten Warrior and Crucible Knight duo is in the middle tier, Greater Enemy Bosses, and is found on the plaza in Redmane Castle, but only when the Festival is not active. I don’t actually mind Misbegotten Warriors so much, they’re kind of fun to fight and if it had only been that one, I probably wouldn’t have made use of Banished Knight Engvall in this battle.

As for the Crucible Knight, those guys have been featured frequently in my nightmares and high up on my list of arch enemies ever since I encountered the first one in Stormhill Evergaol early in the game. I still can’t say exactly what it is, they just have a certain timing and relentlessness to their attacks that makes it very difficult for me to avoid. And they hit really, really hard. Enter Engvall, my currently favorite damage soaking sponge.

The fight starts with only the Misbegotten Warrior, but once that one gets to half health, the Crucible Knight will join the fun. Between Engvall and myself, we managed to finish off the Misbegotten Warrior before the Crucible Knight reached us, so we didn’t have to handle two enemies at the same time.

Engvall pretty much reduced the Crucible Knight to a simple tank-and-spank fight. Well, as long as he’s doing the tanking and I’m doing the spanking, I’m okay with that. Crucible Knights are encountered several places in the game where Spirit Ashes are not allowed, so I know for a fact that I can beat them on my own, but when Engvall is available to make it a breeze, it would be silly not to make use of his services and spare my own tender flesh a beating ;-)

I play as a mostly Dexterity build. My melee weapon is the Guardian’s Swordspear with Keen affinity and Sacred Blade Ash of War. My ranged weapons are Longbow and Shortbow. I was rune level 81 when this video was recorded. I’m not really sure if that is generally considered appropriate, but the difficulty of the game seems reasonable to me – I want the sweet spot that isn’t mind-numbing easy-mode, but also not so difficult that I’ll be stuck on the same boss for hours, as I don’t find that fun at all.
