Elden Ring: Black Knight Garrew (Fog Rift Fort) Boss Fight (SOTE)

Black Knight Garrew is in the lowest tier of bosses in Elden Ring, Field Bosses, and is the main boss of the Fog Rift Fort in the Land of Shadow. He is an optional boss in the sense that it is not required to defeat him in order to progress the main story of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.
As you probably know, bosses in Elden Ring are divided into three tiers. From lowest to highest: Field Bosses, Greater Enemy Bosses and finally Demigods and Legends.
Black Knight Garrew is in the lowest tier, Field Bosses, and is the main boss of the Fog Rift Fort in the Land of Shadow. He is an optional boss in the sense that it is not required to defeat him in order to progress the main story of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.
As I was crossing a small bridge inside the Fog Rift Fort, I noticed a Black Knight on the other side. I have dealt with their unpleasant kind before, but this one looked particularly nasty, wielding an almost comically large mace and a very large shield too. As someone who likes to stab, slash and poke unhindered, anything with a shield is just highly annoying to me.
So, I once again decided to rely on my favorite sidekick Black Knife Tiche for some extra-stabby goodness. And it was a good thing that I did, because this boss is not only an annoying shield-wearer, nor is he only yet another foe on the long list of foes who try to flatten me with a huge hammer, oh no, he is worse: on several occasions, he actually tried to put his tongue on me!
And it’s a huge tongue that sticks out from his chest! And he tried to grab me with it! I did certainly not consent to that!
Being smashed with a giant hammer and slammed with a giant shield is business as usual and all fair in a fight, but this tongue-action just makes me feel violated in a new and completely unreasonable way. It is definitely not very knightly of him, so I decided I would do everybody a favor and dispose of him as quickly as possible. But silly me for once again forgetting to swap talismans before the fight, so I was still wearing the ones I use for exploring, which didn’t exactly speed things up.
And now for the usual boring details about my character. I play as a mostly Dexterity build. My melee weapons are the Hand of Malenia and the Uchigatana with Keen affinity. I was level 197 and Scadutree Blessing 10 when this video was recorded, which I think is reasonable for this boss. I’m always looking for the sweet spot where it’s not mind-numbing easy mode, but also not so difficult that I will be stuck on the same boss for hours ;-)
