Elden Ring: Ancient Hero of Zamor (Giant-Conquering Hero's Grave) Boss Fight

Ancient Hero of Zamor is in the lowest tier of bosses in Elden Ring, Field Bosses, and is the end boss of the Giant-Conquering Hero’s Grave dungeon in Mountaintops of the Giants. Like most lesser bosses in the game, defeating it is optional in the sense that it is not required in order to progress the main story.

As you probably know, bosses in Elden Ring are divided into three tiers. From lowest to highest: Field Bosses, Greater Enemy Bosses and finally Demigods and Legends.

Ancient Hero of Zamor is in the lowest tier, Field Bosses, and is the end boss of the Giant-Conquering Hero’s Grave dungeon in Mountaintops of the Giants. Like most lesser bosses in the game, defeating it is optional in the sense that it is not required in order to progress the main story.

This boss is a fast and agile warrior who really likes to whack people with his sword and freeze them too. Overall, fairly annoying, but also a pretty fun fight with some action and not too many cheap shots. I would say that getting to the boss through the dungeon is harder than the boss fight itself.

For someone described as “ancient”, he sure can jump long distances, so staying at range does not keep one safe from his sword swings. When he plunges his sword into the ground, you shouldn’t assume that he’s just a buffoon who missed his target and is now stuck, but rather that he is about to do a frost explosion, at which point it’s better to plot your next move from a bit of distance.

And now for the usual boring details about my character. I play as a mostly Dexterity build. My melee weapon is the Guardian’s Swordspear with Keen affinity and Thunderbolt Ash of War. My shield is the Great Turtle Shell, which I mostly wear for the stamina recovery. I was level 148 when this video was recorded, which I think is a bit high for this content. I’m always looking for the sweet spot where it’s not mind-numbing easy mode, but also not so difficult that I will be stuck on the same boss for hours ;-)
