Elden Ring: Deathbird (Capital Outskirts) Boss Fight

Deathbird is in the lowest tier of bosses in Elden Ring, Field Bosses, and is found outdoors in the Capital Outskirts in Elden Ring, but will only spawn at night. Like most lesser bosses in the game, this one is optional in the sense that you do not need to defeat it in order to advance the main story.

As you probably know, bosses in Elden Ring are divided into three tiers. From lowest to highest: Field Bosses, Greater Enemy Bosses and finally Demigods and Legends.

Deathbird is in the lowest tier, Field Bosses, and is found outdoors in the Capital Outskirts in Elden Ring, but will only spawn at night. Like most lesser bosses in the game, this one is optional in the sense that you do not need to defeat it in order to advance the main story.

As with other Deathbirds, this one will spawn when you get close to its spawn point, so you can’t see it from a distance. That is also why you will get to see a few seconds of my famous headless chicken mode in the beginning of this video as it caught me a bit by surprise, but I guess that’s what huge undead chickens do for fun at night.

I have recently switched back to the good old Sacred Blade Ash of War that I have been using for most of the playthrough. I’m not sure what it is about it, it just seems to fit my playstyle well as I always seem to miss it when I use something else. And it absolutely destroys undead, including this rotting piece of poultry who likes to whack people over the head with some sort of cane-like object.

And now for the usual boring details about my character. I play as a mostly Dexterity build. My melee weapon is the Guardian’s Swordspear with Keen affinity and Sacred Blade Ash of War. My ranged weapons are the Longbow and the Shortbow. My shield is the Great Turtle Shell, which I mostly wear for the stamina recovery. I was level 128 when this video was recorded. I think I’m a bit over-leveled for this content, but Deathbirds have never felt like a particularly difficult boss type to me, so I’m not sure. I’m always looking for the sweet spot where it’s not mind-numbing easy mode, but also not so difficult that I will be stuck on the same boss for hours ;-)
