Elden Ring: Godskin Apostle (Divine Tower of Caelid) Boss Fight

Godskin Apostle is in the middle tier of bosses in Elden Ring, Greater Enemy Bosses, and is at the bottom inside the Divine Tower of Caelid. Like most lesser bosses in the game, this one is optional in the sense that you do not need to defeat it in order to advance the main story.

As you probably know, bosses in Elden Ring are divided into three tiers. From lowest to highest: Field Bosses, Greater Enemy Bosses and finally Demigods and Legends.

Godskin Apostle is in the middle tier, Greater Enemy Bosses, and is at the bottom inside the Divine Tower of Caelid. Like most lesser bosses in the game, this one is optional in the sense that you do not need to defeat it in order to advance the main story.

Actually getting to this boss is more difficult than the boss itself. First, you need to climb up the tower using roots, ledges and ladders, and then you need to go all the way to the bottom inside the tower. Especially the way down inside the tower can be a bit confusing. Fortunately, there aren’t a lot of enemies there, but gravity is always ready to try to steal your runes. Make sure to unlock the shortcut by climbing up the ladder at the top of the first cage lift and unlocking the door there, just in case you die before you get to the bottom.

I was tired and in no mood for bosses reluctant to die when I finally got to it, so I decided to call in Black Knife Tiche for assistance. The Godskin Apostle in Altus Plateau I fought earlier was a fun fight without a spirit summon and I was actually looking forward to this one, but by the time I got to it, I was so annoyed by the way there that I just wanted it to be over so I could leave the stupid tower already ;-)

To be fair, this Godskin Apostle is much higher level and hits much harder than the one in Altus Plateau, but I still feel like I could have taken it alone if laziness and impatience hadn’t gotten the better of me. The world will never know ;-)

And now for the usual boring details about my character. I play as a mostly Dexterity build. My melee weapon is the Guardian’s Swordspear with Keen affinity and Chilling Mist Ash of War. My shield is the Great Turtle Shell, which I mostly wear for the stamina recovery (but somehow managed to not wear for the majority of this fight). I was level 123 when this video was recorded. I’m not sure if that’s generally considered too high for this boss. Maybe a little, but then again, everything in Dragonbarrow seems to kill me really easily too, so it doesn’t seem too far off to me. I’m always looking for the sweet spot where it’s not mind-numbing easy mode, but also not so difficult that I will be stuck on the same boss for hours ;-)
