Elden Ring: Demi-Human Swordmaster Onze (Belurat Gaol) Boss Fight (SOTE)

Demi-Human Swordmaster Onze is in the lowest tier of bosses in Elden Ring, Field Bosses, and is the end boss of the Belurat Gaol dungeon in the Land of Shadow. It is an optional boss in the sense that it is not required to defeat it in order to progress the main story of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.
As you probably know, bosses in Elden Ring are divided into three tiers. From lowest to highest: Field Bosses, Greater Enemy Bosses and finally Demigods and Legends.
Demi-Human Swordmaster Onze is in the lowest tier, Field Bosses, and is the end boss of the Belurat Gaol dungeon in the Land of Shadow. It is an optional boss in the sense that it is not required to defeat it in order to progress the main story of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.
This boss is small, but highly agile and hard-hitting. I actually found him a bit difficult to get in melee range of as he would constantly jump around, only to land behind me and stab me with something unpleasantly pointy.
Fortunately, two can play at that game and two did, namely my favorite sidekick Black Knife Tiche and myself. Even so, the boss moves around a lot and I would often miss my swings because he would be somewhere else by the time they landed. Or maybe it’s just because I suck at judging distance. No, I think I’ll go with the first explanation.
I thought it was fun to see a Swordmaster variety of the demi-human enemies. As far as I know, this variety does not exist in the base game and apart from the queens, demi-humans were overall fairly underwhelming enemies. These swordmasters add a bit of danger to demi-human groups. It’s not that I really like danger, but at least that gives me an excuse for running away.
And now for the usual boring details about my character. I play as a mostly Dexterity build. My melee weapons are the Hand of Malenia and the Uchigatana with Keen affinity. I was level 183 and Scadutree Blessing 4 when this video was recorded, which I think is reasonable for this boss. I’m always looking for the sweet spot where it’s not mind-numbing easy mode, but also not so difficult that I will be stuck on the same boss for hours ;-)
