Elden Ring: Misbegotten Crusader (Cave of the Forlorn) Boss Fight

Misbegotten Crusader is in the lowest tier of bosses in Elden Ring, Field Bosses, and is the end boss of the Cave of the Forlorn dungeon in the Eastern part of the Consecrated Snowfield. Like most lesser bosses in the game, defeating this one is optional in the sense that it is not required in order to progress the main story.

As you probably know, bosses in Elden Ring are divided into three tiers. From lowest to highest: Field Bosses, Greater Enemy Bosses and finally Demigods and Legends.

Misbegotten Crusader is in the lowest tier, Field Bosses, and is the end boss of the Cave of the Forlorn dungeon in the Eastern part of the Consecrated Snowfield. Like most lesser bosses in the game, defeating this one is optional in the sense that it is not required in order to progress the main story.

This boss is very similar to the Leonine Misbegotten boss I fought all the way back in Castle Morne on the southernmost tip of the Weeping Peninsula. I guess I remember that vividly because it was the first Greater Enemy Boss in the game that I managed to defeat.

It’s a fast and agile lion-like warrior that jumps around a lot and likes to whack people with a sword. Unlike the Leonine Misbegotten, this one has some holy damage spells and will buff its sword with holy damage as well, so I guess it’s kind of like a really ugly paladin. I guess not all knights in shining armor are handsome. Perhaps that’s really why they wear the armor.

Oh, but I digress, this one doesn’t appear to be wearing any armor, let alone a shining one, so I’m not really sure what the point was. Well, apart from making fun of paladins, I always make a point of that. And even if there is no point, I can always point and laugh. Not just regular laugh, full-on throw my head back and cackle like an evil witch who just learned a spell to make little kids drop their ice cream cones.

I sense there is some multi-layered digressing going on here, sorry about that.

And now for the usual boring details about my character. I play as a mostly Dexterity build. My melee weapon is the Guardian’s Swordspear with Keen affinity and Thunderbolt Ash of War. My shield is the Great Turtle Shell, which I mostly wear for the stamina recovery. I was level 155 when this video was recorded, which I think is a bit high for this content. I’m always looking for the sweet spot where it’s not mind-numbing easy mode, but also not so difficult that I will be stuck on the same boss for hours ;-)
