Elden Ring: Red Wolf of Radagon (Raya Lucaria Academy) Boss Fight

Red Wolf of Radagon is in the middle tier of bosses in Elden Ring, Greater Enemy Bosses, and is the first real boss encountered in the Raya Lucaria Academy legacy dungeon. It is an optional boss in the sense that you don’t need to kill it in order to advance the main story of the game, but it does block the path to the main boss of the Academy, so you will need to kill this one first to clear the area.
As you probably know, bosses in Elden Ring are divided into three tiers. From lowest to highest: Field Bosses, Greater Enemy Bosses and finally Demigods and Legends.

I found this fight a bit confusing at first, because the boss is highly aggressive, moves around very quickly and has several annoying attacks to ruin your day. It will charge around, it will pounce on you, it will summon magical missiles that target you, and it will even wield a large, magical sword in its jaws and try to hit you with it, as if a wolf bite wasn’t bad enough already.
After a few attempts, I found out that once again fighting fire with fire is the way to go and what worked best for me was trying to match the wolf’s aggression and speed. I wasn’t fully able to, but making an effort to constantly close the distance, attack quickly and be ready to roll at all times made the fight feel much more manageable and I was soon able to make a trophy of a fancy red wolf pelt and mount its head on my spear. Not really, but it would have been awesome if the game allowed that ;-)
You can summon Spirit Ashes for this boss fight if you want to, but for some reason I tend to forget about that until after the fight. For a fast, relentless boss like this one, I imagine having something to take some of its attention away would have been very helpful, so that’s something to consider if you struggle with it.
