Elden Ring: Sanguine Noble (Writheblood Ruins) Boss Fight

Sanguine Noble is in the lowest tier of bosses in Elden Ring, Field Bosses, and is found down some stairs in the underground part of the Writheblood Ruins in central Altus Plateau. Like most lesser bosses in the game, this one is optional in the sense that you do not need to defeat it in order to advance the main story.

As you probably know, bosses in Elden Ring are divided into three tiers. From lowest to highest: Field Bosses, Greater Enemy Bosses and finally Demigods and Legends.

Sanguine Noble is in the lowest tier, Field Bosses, and is found down some stairs in the underground part of the Writheblood Ruins in central Altus Plateau. Like most lesser bosses in the game, this one is optional in the sense that you do not need to defeat it in order to advance the main story.

Based on its name, I suppose that this boss is some sort of vampire. If I had been a more appropriate level when I got to it, it may have been a more interesting fight, but as you can see in the video, it died very easily and with rather low effort on my part.

It does seem to cause bloodloss build-up, so if you’re not good at dodging its attacks, that may be an issue. I found it fairly easy to dodge though. I would have liked to face a higher-level version of this boss later in the game, but as far as I can find out, it’s not reused elsewhere.

If you’re doing White Mask Varre’s questline, make sure that you also invade and defeat Magnus the Beast Claw before leaving the Writheblood Ruins. You can find his invasion symbol glowing red on the ground near one of the broken buildings in the ruins. As he’s not really a boss, I didn’t do a video about him, but I would say he’s about the same difficulty level as this boss.

And now for the usual boring details about my character: I play as a mostly Dexterity build. My melee weapon is the Guardian’s Swordspear with Keen affinity and Chilling Mist Ash of War. My shield is the Great Turtle Shell, which I mostly wear for the stamina recovery. I was level 109 when this video was recorded. I believe that’s way too high as the boss took huge damage and died quite easily. I’m always looking for the sweet spot where it’s not mind-numbing easy mode, but also not so difficult that I will be stuck on the same boss for hours ;-)
