The plant fills most of the frame and has a broadly rounded, mounded form consistent with recent pruning or maintained compact growth. Numerous slender, woody brown stems branch densely outward and upward from the interior. The foliage consists of many small, narrow oval to lance-shaped leaves with smooth-looking edges. Most leaves are deep to medium green, with lighter yellow-green new growth visible at many shoot tips. Scattered throughout the shrub are numerous small, vivid purple to magenta flowers. The flowers generally appear flat and open, with several rounded petals surrounding small, lighter centers. Some unopened or developing flower buds are also visible among the leaves and at branch tips. The plant appears generally healthy and vigorous, although a few small yellowing leaves can be seen near the lower portion. The ground beneath and around the shrub is covered with coarse brown organic mulch made up of irregular pieces of bark and wood. It contains additional green garden vegetation, including darker leafy plants toward the upper left and center and brighter yellow-green upright foliage toward the upper right.
