Image description
A landscape-oriented macro photograph of a single open flower centered prominently in the frame. The flower has three broad, overlapping, cup-shaped petals that are predominantly white with a faint pale lavender cast, particularly near some edges. Each petal displays a large, dark burgundy to wine-red blotch toward its inner portion. The blotches have irregular, finely fringed or speckled margins, with numerous smaller burgundy marks extending toward the center of the flower. Yellow to golden coloration is visible around parts of the petal bases beneath and between the dark markings. At the center is a cluster of pale cream to light pink reproductive structures, including several elongated anthers with subtle purple-pink striping and a thicker pale central structure. Fine hairs or filament-like structures are visible near portions of the inner petal surfaces and base. The precise species cannot be independently confirmed from the visible image alone, although the flower is depicted with the characteristics requested for Calochortus venustus.
