Elden Ring: Demi-Human Queen Maggie (Hermit Village) Boss Fight

Demi-Human Queen Maggie is in the lowest tier of bosses in Elden Ring, Field Bosses, and is found near the Hermit Village in Mount Gelmir. Like most lesser bosses in the game, this one is optional in the sense that you do not need to defeat it in order to advance the main story.

As you probably know, bosses in Elden Ring are divided into three tiers. From lowest to highest: Field Bosses, Greater Enemy Bosses and finally Demigods and Legends.

Demi-Human Queen Maggie is in the lowest tier, Field Bosses, and is found near the Hermit Village in Mount Gelmir. Like most lesser bosses in the game, this one is optional in the sense that you do not need to defeat it in order to advance the main story.

I was actually not prepared for this being a boss. I was just exploring the sunny side of Mount Gelmir when I came across a group of mages standing around some sort of giant creature. I blame myself for not noticing the crown on its head from a distance, because when I got closer, Her Royal Majesty the Queen of Being a Pain in My Backside stood up and picked a fight.

That could very easily have ended in a panic attack for me, but fortunately I have mapped the summoning of my good pal Ancient Dragon Knight Kristoff to my panic button, so I called him in to take some of the beating and spare my own tender flesh a little, while at the same time avoiding a lengthy and embarrassing headless chicken mode incident. Well, sort of.

Demi-Human Queens are not particularly difficult bosses, but this one is complicated a bit by the group of mages that are around. They can and should be killed off quickly, as they’re quite squishy, but output a lot of damage from range. Kristoff did a good job of tanking the grumpy queen while I ran around and disposed of the mages.

Of course, the boss itself not being particularly difficult does not prevent me from screwing it up anyway and getting myself stuck between a couple of rocks in the heat of battle, but at least that seemed to make it harder for the boss to hit me as well, so let’s just say I did that on purpose.

And now for the usual boring details about my character. I play as a mostly Dexterity build. My melee weapon is the Guardian’s Swordspear with Keen affinity and Chilling Mist Ash of War. My shield is the Great Turtle Shell, which I mostly wear for the stamina recovery. I was level 114 when this video was recorded. I think that’s too high for this boss, I should probably have taken a different progression route. I’m always looking for the sweet spot where it’s not mind-numbing easy mode, but also not so difficult that I will be stuck on the same boss for hours ;-)
