Elden Ring: Ghostflame Dragon (Moorth Highway) Boss Fight (SOTE)

Ghostflame Dragon is in the middle tier of bosses in Elden Ring, Greater Enemy Bosses, and is found outdoors near the Moorth Highway in the Land of Shadow. It is an optional boss in the sense that it is not required to defeat it in order to progress the main story of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.
As you probably know, bosses in Elden Ring are divided into three tiers. From lowest to highest: Field Bosses, Greater Enemy Bosses and finally Demigods and Legends.
Ghostflame Dragon is in the middle tier, Greater Enemy Bosses, and is found outdoors near the Moorth Highway in the Land of Shadow. It is an optional boss in the sense that it is not required to defeat it in order to progress the main story of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.
So, I was peacefully travelling along a highway after having obtained a miniscule amount of loot from a nearby misbegotten encampment when I heard the sound of fighting behind some trees.
Investigating closer, I saw some soldiers in combat with a large Ghostflame Dragon. As you may know, dragons are usually busy with elaborate schemes focused around me ending up as their next meal, but this one did seem rather pre-occupied with the group of soldiers.
At this point, a heroic person would have joined side with the soldiers and helped them defeat the dragon, but my experiences in these lands tell me that the soldiers would just turn on me, so the best approach seemed to be to wait for the dragon to thin the herd a bit first.
But that would require a patient person and that’s not really where I shine when there is combat to do and loot to acquire. So, I called in Black Knife Tiche for assistance and whipped out my favorite dragon attitude readjustment tool, the Bolt of Gransax, for some long-range lizard-zapping. Not that that is very heroic, but it does minimize the number of times I get stomped on by a grumpy dragon.
Tiche did a good job of keeping the soldiers mostly busy so I could focus on running away from the dragon. I mean, fighting the dragon and avoiding its attacks as best I could.
After the dragon died, the remaining soldiers immediately turned on me as expected, but I decided to cut that from the video. It wasn’t very pretty.
And now for the usual boring details about my character. I play as a mostly Dexterity build. My melee weapons are the Hand of Malenia and the Uchigatana with Keen affinity, but I mostly used the ranged weapon art of the Bolt of Gransax in this fight. I was level 190 and Scadutree Blessing 7 when this video was recorded, which I think is reasonable for this boss. I’m always looking for the sweet spot where it’s not mind-numbing easy mode, but also not so difficult that I will be stuck on the same boss for hours ;-)
