Elden Ring: Ancient Hero of Zamor (Sainted Hero's Grave) Boss Fight

Ancient Hero of Zamor is in the lowest tier of bosses in Elden Ring, Field Bosses, and is the end boss of the Sainted Hero’s Grave dungeon in central Altus Plateau. Like most lesser bosses in the game, this one is optional in the sense that you do not need to defeat it in order to advance the main story, but he drops one of the best tank spirit ashes in the game, so killing him may be worthwhile if you like to summon help.

As you probably know, bosses in Elden Ring are divided into three tiers. From lowest to highest: Field Bosses, Greater Enemy Bosses and finally Demigods and Legends.

Ancient Hero of Zamor is in the lowest tier, Field Bosses, and is the end boss of the Sainted Hero’s Grave dungeon in central Altus Plateau. Like most lesser bosses in the game, this one is optional in the sense that you do not need to defeat it in order to advance the main story, but he drops one of the best tank spirit ashes in the game, so killing him may be worthwhile if you like to summon help.

This boss is an agile and hard-hitting fighter, but ironically less challenging than the Black Knife Assassin who guards the entrance to the dungeon. He likes to infuse his weapon with cold and try to freeze people, but two can play at that game ;-)

Apart from the entire dungeon actually having some pretty cool mechanics, one notable advantage to defeating this boss is that he drops the Ancient Dragon Knight Kristoff spirit ashes, which is by many considered one of the best spirit ash tanks in the game, so if you like to summon assistance for some particularly challenging bosses, this may be a valuable addition to your arsenal. Since most bosses won’t be content with just pounding on a spirit while you kill them from behind, I find that Black Knife Tiche is usually more useful though, as she deals higher damage and is very good at keeping herself alive, albeit not very good at holding aggro. However, it’s always nice to have options and different spirits may be better for different encounters.

And now for the usual boring details about my character: I play as a mostly Dexterity build. My melee weapon is the Guardian’s Swordspear with Keen affinity and Chilling Mist Ash of War. My shield is the Great Turtle Shell, which I mostly wear for the stamina recovery. I was level 112 when this video was recorded. I believe that’s way too high as the boss felt quite easy to me. I’m always looking for the sweet spot where it’s not mind-numbing easy mode, but also not so difficult that I will be stuck on the same boss for hours ;-)
