Elden Ring: Dragonkin Soldier (Siofra River) Boss Fight

Dragonkin Soldier is in the middle tier of bosses in Elden Ring, Greater Enemy Bosses, and is found along the deep underground Siofra River that runs between Limgrave and Caelid. Like most lesser bosses in the game, this one is optional in the sense that you do not need to kill it in order to advance the main story.

As you probably know, bosses in Elden Ring are divided into three tiers. From lowest to highest: Field Bosses, Greater Enemy Bosses and finally Demigods and Legends.

Dragonkin Soldier is in the middle tier, Greater Enemy Bosses, and is found along the deep underground Siofra River that runs between Limgrave and Caelid. Like most lesser bosses in the game, this one is optional in the sense that you do not need to kill it in order to advance the main story.

If you’ve already been to the other large underground river in the game, Ainsel River, this boss might look familiar as it’s very similar to the Dragonkin Soldier of Nokstella found there.

The boss is a very large dragon-like humanoid. It mostly attacks by swinging its claws at you, which can hurt quite a bit. As usual when going melee with bosses this large, the camera feels like your enemy too, as it’s often difficult to see what is going on.

When fighting the mentioned Dragonkin Soldier of Nokstella, there is a safe spot on the inside of one of its legs, where it will keep pushing you out of harm’s way as it attacks. I’m not sure if the same is the case for this one, but if the same is possible, I wasn’t able to get it to work.

Also, this one doesn’t appear to have a second phase – or perhaps I killed it too quickly. As far as I could tell, it would remain as a fairly straightforward melee fight throughout.

The boss can be stance broken and is then open to a critical hit, but as you can see in the video, I’m once again way too slow to get to the sweet spot in time. No matter, the boss died soon after from general sword-spear trauma and the rest is history ;-)
