Elden Ring: Fia's Champions (Deeproot Depths) Boss Fight

Fia’s Champions are in the middle tier of bosses in Elden Ring, Greater Enemy Bosses, and are found in the Northern part of Deeproot Depths, but only if you have progressed Fia’s questline. Like most lesser bosses in the game, these are optional in the sense that you do not need to defeat them to advance the main story, but they are required to progress Fia’s questline.
As you probably know, bosses in Elden Ring are divided into three tiers. From lowest to highest: Field Bosses, Greater Enemy Bosses and finally Demigods and Legends.
Fia’s Champions are in the middle tier, Greater Enemy Bosses, and are found in the Northern part of Deeproot Depths, but only if you have progressed Fia’s questline. It is perhaps a bit much to call this a boss fight, as the Champions you will be facing are rather weak individually, but as always it can be challenging to handle multiple enemies at the same time. They have boss health bars, and you get a Greater Enemy Felled message when they’re defeated, so I decided to consider them a boss fight.
The first of Fia’s Champions will spawn when you approach the waygate in the area. It’s a fairly simple and easy fight.
When that one is done, another one will spawn, this time the ghost of Sorcerer Rogier. He is also by himself and can be focused down pretty quickly, although he is a bit more annoying and dangerous than the first one.
The third and final wave consists of three enemies, the ghost of Lionel the Lionhearted accompanied by two nameless champions. Just the fact that there are three of them makes this part of the fight the most difficult and really the only part where I felt having Banished Knight Engvall present was reasonable, it felt a bit silly during the first two waves. What I found worked best was to focus on Lionel the Lionhearted myself, hoping that Engvall would keep the two other ones busy in the meantime.
When all the waves are defeated, Fia will appear and be open for conversation. If you want to continue her questline and get access to fighting an undead dragon, you will need to tell her that you wish to be held again. Continuing her questline after this point and getting access to the mentioned dragon also requires the Cursemark of Death, which is obtained during Ranni’s questline.
I play as a mostly Dexterity build. My melee weapon is the Guardian’s Swordspear with Keen affinity and Sacred Blade Ash of War. My ranged weapons are the Longbow and the Shortbow. I was rune level 88 when this video was recorded. I’m not really sure if that is generally considered appropriate, but the difficulty of the game seems reasonable to me – I want the sweet spot that isn’t mind-numbing easy-mode, but also not so difficult that I’ll be stuck on the same boss for hours ;-)
